Oh, Canada!

When we go on vacation, Dane knows two things:
1. the room better have a refrigerator so I do not go apeshit when I cannot chill my drinks and am forced to drink lukewarm wine water.
2. I must photograph every. single. thing. I see that is blog-worthy. Obviously all of our memories must be documented or else who knows if I'll ever remember all the little details? Come on, you know you do it, too.
Frozen trees. It was imperative I capture this. MEMORIES, PEOPLE, MEMORIES!

He is a good sport about all of these things.

So when we got to Canada and I immediately whipped out my cell phone to document the crossing the border experience (border patrol does not like this, if you were wondering)...he was not at all surprised. He was less surprised when we got to dinner and I decided I HAD to capture the salad he got with the most adorable sliced pears. The man even smiles when I take his photo mid-bite or mid-sip. Like I said, a gem of a find in all departments.
Aforementioned pears

What he is not a good sport about? Listening to me complain nonstop about how cold I am when we are in Canada in the middle of winter. I don't know why, it's not like that would be annoying or anything. I also can't understand why when I asked to go to Starbuck's for the fourth time THAT DAY, he shook his head at me in confusion? disgust? disbelief how one person can consume that much caffeine?

But what did he do? Found me the nearest Starbuck's. Mind you, it involved trudging up a slushy hill of ice, but get me a non-fat chai tea latte, he did. And with a smile on his face no less.

For the record, I also only packed one pair of stylish boots, nevermind the fact that they made absolutely no sense in the weather. They. Looked. Fab. Let the record also show the other shoes I packed for NYE were 4 inch glitter heels. I'm really good at packing and make extremely logical choices for winter apparel.

If you were wondering, we probably won't ever go to Canada again (at least not in the winter), but we had an amazing three days together. We won money in the casino, drank festive holiday drinks, shared laughter at our choice of an evening ghost tour (FREEZING!), and got to experience 7 hours in the car in the middle of a blizzard. You can bet your behind I was complaining 6.95 of those hours. Cheers to 2013!

  2. Niagara Falls is much lower than a lot of the northern states. So it was probably a better option than going somewhere like Minnesota! But yes, if you come back I would recommend the summer anyways!

  3. I like to say I don't complain when it's 100+ degrees with 100% humidity during Nashville summers so I CAN complain when it's freezing cold out like it is today. I don't do cold at all! I'm also an inappropriate shoe wearer/packer. I had several pairs of cute boots, heels and flats for my holiday trip to VA, none of which were made for snow and ice. Oops. :) Happy New Year!

  10. Hey, foxy boots & 4 inch glitter heels. Perfectly logical. I would have packed a swimsuit as well.

Looks like you guys had a blast! When you're with the one you love, even Canada in the dead of winter is fun. :)
